This four-part sermon series will take us verse-by-verse through Matthew 3-4, exploring the life and message of John the Baptist, the one sent to prepare the way for the coming King.

John’s revolutionary message, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand,” called people to a radical transformation of mind and heart—what the Greek word metanoia describes as a complete change of thinking. Just as roads were cleared and leveled for the arrival of earthly kings, John’s role was to remove the spiritual obstacles and prepare the hearts of God’s people to receive the High King, Jesus Christ.

This series will challenge us to consider the debris in our own hearts that may hinder God’s work in our lives. Together, we’ll reflect on how God can straighten paths, topple mountains, and fill valleys within us to make way for His presence. By delving deeply into this passage, we’ll learn how to embrace a renewed mind and prepare ourselves for Christ’s transformative work in our lives and in our church. Join us as we journey toward a deeper understanding of what it means to prepare the way for the King!
